Elizabeth Swann, well make that Elizabeth Turner for real now. She’d been 11 when they had met. A boy of only 11 himself and she had been travelling on the HMS Dauntless from London to Port Royal where her father was to become the Governor. It was then that she’d seen the young boy adrift at sea because it was found that their ship had been attacked by pirates and none had been left alive, save for the boy.
Governor Weatherby Swann placed her in charge of the young boy. As she watched over him, , the young man grabbed her arm and cried out. Young Elizabeth introduced herself, he replied in kind and passed out. Elizabeth noted that he wore something around his neck. Snatching it from his neck to eye it, she saw that it was indeed a pirate medallion. When called upon, she hid it quickly and only divulged William’s name.
As she grew, for the next two years she watched as Will became an apprentice to the local blacksmith Mr. Brown. Though when she turned 13 she was confronted by a man and taken to a strange time and place. It was almost as if she was brought there deliberately.
Such a strange place it was. Carriages on wheels that made such loud noise. So loud they were that she had to cover her ears. The clothes, she had never seen such nakedness on girls and women. Hand held devices connected to a wire in which you could speak to someone? They called them telephones. The strangest thing of all were the picture boxes that people talked in but you couldn’t touch them.
They told her she would have to live with family who was not her own. It scared her to hear that she would not be able to live with her own family. It wasn’t the fact that she wouldn’t have the luxuries she had with her father. It was that she wouldn’t be with her father and her friend Will Turner. The family they had sent her to though had a girl a few years younger than she. Her name was Emma Swan. It was nice to have a family with the last name of Swan. The nicer thing was that they did not make her change the spelling of her last name. For that she was grateful.
Although they were foster sisters, she and Emma grew close and considered one another sisters. She told Emma everything about her life. Including Will Turner and how she came to meet him. Emma attempted to help her through the transition of all the strange things Elizabeth was encountering. It was a great help to her. She was finally getting a hold on things in this strange new world. No one sailed the seas like they used to. It was so different. They now travelled in something called planes. They were metal flying birds. They scared her. Luckily they never came close to being on one. The noise from the sky was scary enough.
Something else that was exceptionally different was the schooling. She had to go every day and learn things she had never known before. Some of them, yes. But the geography of the world had become so different. Countries had different names now. It caused her to wonder if she really was in the same world that she was born in. History books said that England lost something called a Revolution. She could hardly believe that England would ever lose a war. And where she was now was something called the United States and it was the New World. The first thing she had done was read the entire history book she’d been given. There were libraries of books. She could read for free. She’d walk to the library as often as possible and read as much as possible about this world.
Just when it seemed as though she’d be there forever, Elizabeth began to give up hope. But then the man had reappeared and offered to bring her back to her own time once more. She was more than ready to finally go home. After all it had been two years. She wanted to see her father and Will Turner again. Eagerly she said yes. However for her to get home, she had to make a deal. That she would never tell a soul about what she had seen. For things she had seen would only cause people to think her insane and they would lock her up. Nor could she ever find out his name. At the mere thought of that, Elizabeth agreed, but wanted to say goodbye to her sister. Which she was sure Emma did not believe that she was going anywhere but out for the day and would be home.
When she arrived back in Port Royal, she noted her clothing from her own time. Elizabeth immediately ran to her home and found her father, Captain Norrington and Will Turner on the lawn standing over.. her grave? In shock that they had given her up for dead she eyed their backs for a few moments before saying “You thought I was dead?” All three had turned to see her. She ran to her father holding onto him for dear life. The other two stood by and watched the reunion.
When asked where she was, she told the truth. She'd been kidnapped by a man. He placed her somewhere that as a girl she was unable to get her bearings on. He then moved her from place to place until he then placed her with a family that took good care of her for a number of years until she was able to escape and find her way home. And when she did, she ran home immeadiately to find them standing over her grave.
Oh how she wanted to tell William of what had occurred so long ago. It had been 16 years since that day. They had been through so much together. The kidnapping by Barbosa, sending Jack to the depths of Davy Jones’ locker, saving him, becoming pirate king, marrying her long time love, watching him die, having to become the captain of The Dutchman, only able to have one night with him which produced a son and unable to see him but once every 10 years. But to Elizabeth it was worth it.
After all they had seen and been through, would her own husband consider her crazy? Honestly she had always believed Will to consider her to tell the truth. Except when she left certain things out. But then he did the same. As unfortunate as that was for the both of them, they had worked out their differences. Would he consider her crazy now?
Though yes, she is the pirate king, and she has the pirates live by the code…even though they are more a set of guidelines anyway, she’s determined the children shall not be harmed during raids. Many of the Captains fell right in line with that. Those who didn’t, Elizabeth was more than ready to cut them from being pirates and her armada would hunt them down and pillage their ship.
On her travels across the sea, the pirate king had gotten wind of a man that may be able to help her and her husband with their plight. It seemed as though it had been years since Elizabeth’s ship The King’s Jewel made berth. But that simply wasn’t the case. It’s only because their son William III has grown before their very eyes on the ship.
Upon finally making berth in Tortuga was Elizabeth treated like royalty and provided with that name. His name was Rumpelstiltskin. Within another week, seeing that she gave the crew well deserved time off, they set out yet again to find the man. She and Will needed him. For from the rumors that were going around, he was the only one that could possibly put Will’s heart back into his chest and he would be able to become human again. They could live out their lives with their son and it would be on land rather than sea.
Waiting on the island in which she last saw him all those years ago, Elizabeth Turner was keeping a weather eye on the horizon. Slowly her hand reached into her pocket and toyed with something. As she pulled it out, it opened. It was the compass that didn’t point North. Closing her eyes, she opened them again and saw the flash of green. Today was the day that she would be reunited with her love again, he would meet his son finally and then, together they would find this Rumpelstiltskin and have him help Will. There standing beside her on the beach was their son William Turner III.
